I am looking to repower my Hunter 27 and I currently have two engines available. One is a 2GM (15Hp) which is a raw water engine. The other is a 2GM20F (18Hp) which is a fresh water engine. Is there a better choice between the two engines? Are there benefits to one over the other? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Real sailors bring their first mate with them so they don't have to get home in a hurry.... Oh, and thanks for the math lesson...I don't think I could have figured out that 18Hp is better then 13Hp without your help. |

I would tend to go for the 2GM20F, it is a recent engine and parts will be available for some years to come. Prolly the most popular auxillary in Yanmar's line up. The 2GM a good engine, but is getting long in the tooth. Also the Fresh Water system is good for a hi heat more efficient operation and you can installing a cabin heater |
