| Cat 3208 alternator overcharging? |

I am at a loss at what to look for...boat owner is seeing his stb. engine alternator lite come on after about 20 min. running time. the alt. is putting out 14.8v, battery is reading 13.5v, unclip the regulator and volts drop to nearly nada. hook it back up and 14.8v again. all wiring connections are solid. have run the engine at different speeds, cannot seem to duplicate what the owner see's happening. port engine which is fine is giving me identical readings. Any thoughts to what I am missing? |
