I just had the engines serviced, the smoke is black, both engines are smoking, I had the injectors replaced about a year ago because of this problem. The engines have about 650 HRS on them.

Was the problem their prior to the service. Black smoke generally an indicator of overfuel.
most of the time injector related. to they just smoke at idle?

G' day Tom,
The jury is still out the pros & cons of trany oil as a fix all, seems there are a lot more running sweetly with out it.I would be checking; #1 fuel quality. #2 fuel water trap filters. #3 fuel pump quantity & pressure.
#4 turbo impeller turning freely sounds like lack of boost. #5 dirty hull & prop or entanglement. Is transmission getting hot? possible problem there? Are you running a loaded Pto?
These will be the cheapest options before touching the Hp fuel pump & injectors Do easiest first. Cheers, Shakey.

G'day Tom,
The 6bt is a great engine local fishing fleet has units at 30,000+hrs without a major. Power Take Off aux drives normally taken off a grank pulley used to drive hydaulics freezers ect.Never! recycle used engine oil back thru fuel tanks nackers fuel --very costly.
Cheers, Shakey.
