Need some all around detroit 4-71 advice

While one is getting repowered with twin outboards the other I would like to put in a 4-71 detroit that is for sale locally. It is a turbo and with low hours. THere is a catch. It is on a water pump and was not originally a marine engine. What issues will I run into? Will setting up the cooling system be possible with out too much problem.? WIth regard to the transmission. Will this engine mount onto a standard marine transmission? In running the engine before I actually buy it. What steps should i take to make test it as best i can? Thanks for any and all help.
