Hello,
This is my first boat with 2 stroke diesels so I am very new to this. My boat is an 89 with 671TI's that have 1000 hours on them. The boat sat in storage for the past 3 years prior to my purchasing it.
The boat runs pretty well but seems to smoke quite a bit. At start up, it is very bad but will ease somewhat after about 5 min or so. I do not notice any smoke at cruise.
Is so much smoke at start normal? Thanks for any help you are able to give. |

They all seem to smoke. Some people find that heaters help to reduce start-up smoke.
I use 2 x 150 watt pad type heaters on my oil pans. I turn them on the day before and the smoke is a lot better. You can also use coolant heaters. they are more efficient, but more complex. |
