Hi I am having an oil leak after newly installing a 653N Crated engine… the engine is a new crated Detroit 6-53N. the leak is coming from the oil cooler on the right side of the engine behind the furthestmost bolt in a pattern of 8... it came from the front of the bolt even though i tightened it down, and put epoxy on it--stopped leaking from the front of the bolt and the leak migrated to the gasket area between the block and the cooling unit...it is black engine oil... we are losing coolant but i don't know where from...about a gallon in six hours at 1300 rpms... and a gallon of oil in the same period...steady drip, not a flow of oil. Also, does anyone know the torque specifications for the thru-bolts at the oil cooler that is leaking, so I don’t break the bolts off by over-torquing them? Thanks. Jade |
