Can anyone help ? Volvo does not seem to care. Since 2004 when I purchased my Regal 4260 new my port engine Bosch injector has failed 4 times. They just keep rebuilding it. Has anyone else had this sort of problem ? Is there anything that can cause an injector to go bad, or is it simply a lemon ?

Why have you not replaced injector if you have repeated failure? They do not normally fail unless bad fuel or physical damage to holder.

Very good question. The unit is under Volvo warranty and I've been asking Volvo's representitive Joanne Baker for 2 years now to replace it and she refuses to do so.

Mrs. Baker is very good at taking care of customers needs. Something else must be going on to refuse warranty. Most Volvo parts have a 12 month warranty. Was the part sent back and inspected? Did you have it rebuilt and then attempt to claim?

Sounds like you have delt with Mrs Baker. She's not refusing warranty, every rebuild (going on 4 times now) has been paid by her - the problem is don't you think they should have simply replaced it with a new one after the 2nd attempt failed ? Plus (you can call the Volvo mechanic Steve at 906-484-3303 if you do not beleive my next comment and I know he will substantiate what I'm about to say) Before the 3rd rebuild she denied my claim because she thought the injector was one problem and the pump was another. I had to fax her work orders and she had to talk to Steve before she understood that the injector pump was a single part, not an injector and a pump. So maybe she just does not understand diesel injector ? Either way Volvo has done an awfull job of customer support and my $550,000 yacht is so unreliable that my wife and I are afraid to take it out in the great lakes, where we live. My Regal 4260 has been downgraded to a glorified pontoon boat mainly because of the Volvo diesels I have in it. Funny thing is, I paid $80,000 extra to upgrade from gas engines to diesels for the reliability factor.
