I have a 22 ft Westerly Nomad with 30 yr + MD1. Last time out we had thick black smoke and oil slick out the exhaust....seemed to be little power at higher RPM. Upon return to port, I inspected the prop, nothing wrapped around it. Checked oil, maybe 3 oz low from when we left. No other symptoms or apparent red flags. Prior to this, motor ran strong. I have only had the boat a year, unsure of motor hx. My guess is that its never been rebult etc. Any help would be much appreciated. |

Check valve adjustment, inlet silencer and exhaust elbow for restriction, To much load or not enough air to get black smoke. |
