I have recently acquired a sailboat with 1981 Volvo Penta MD7A. It cranks fast but does not start, I was told it has no compression and probably needs new rings (maybe pistions) and valve seals (sat unused for 1 year). Need to decide if this is worth fixing or should I give up and get an outboard. What is the estimated costs of parts and labor time needed for this kind of repair. |

Carlos, If you decide not to repair it, I am in desperate need of an injector pump. |

I own a sailboat with a Volvo Penta MD7A engine, the water cooled exhaust bend broke due to corrosion (part # 8339988). I am looking for a Volvo Penta parts dealer in the USA where I can order spare parts by internet. I would appreciate your help. Thanks Robert Carletti (Venezuela) |

Try D>B> Marine out of UK. Web site is www.dbmarine.co.uk. email: sales@dbmarine.co.uk Their local telephone is (01628) 526032. Talk to Mark Kennett, as he knows the Volvo md7a inside and out. Parts are readily available at about half the cost that the US folks are trying to get-even with the dollar 2/1 against the pound! |
