I'm hoping someone may have a suggestion on the best way to flush my cooling system that includes a hot water heater. I've got lots of scale on the coolant side of the exchanger, plus antifreeze scum and junk at the connection points of the circulator pump (and probably other areas I can't see). Does anyone have experience with what cleans all this out best, and what coolant I should be using to prevent this in the future? Thanks in advance, Craig |

Well, I did clean the whole system once. Two years ago at anchor in El Salvador.:-) It was ugly, but I had to do it. The whole system got plugged with mud and got cooked so it turned into a nice piece of pottery. I took the system apart piece by piece and cleaned everything with oven cleaner. If you do so make sure you wear gloves, long sleeves and do it in a well vented area, and hopefully not in the middle of summer. Oven cleaner is evil stuff.:-) You wouldn't happen to know the kind of solenoid that belongs with the 2003??? Sounds like mine is going and the boat is still in El Salvador and I'm in the States.
