KAD32 running hot and overheating

Author Message   Dave McCabe New member Username: goboatingnow Post Number: 1 Registered: 06-2009 Posted on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 - 09:00 am:    I have a four winns 248 with a KAD32P ( with a DP-S leg). recently I moved her to warmer waters ( Med) and now I find under load she trips the overheat alarm. ( only just) My mechanic back home mentions that these engines always ran hot and that anything can make them over heating, wear in the raw water pump, small restrictions in water flow. He maintains the colling tolerances are far too low. I changed the impellor etc. but that did nothing. Would moving to a water scoop pickup help ( bigger strainer as well). He suggests taking out one of the dual thermostats as a quick fix anyone have anything to add or some experience.
