Hi,
I am looking at a boat with a volvo tamd 41a engine. The engine ran really well, started right up nice and smooth.
2 questions - as I unfamiliar with these engines.
1. The smoke coming out of the exhaust seem to be a little black - not sure if this is normal or what problem it may be indicative of.
2. The oil pressure on the boat was good - however on the right side of the engine while looking at it head on from in the cabin - there was oil/sludge that was I could not identify where it was coming from. Seemed to be coming maybe midway up the engine. Any help or suggestions of the type of problem this maybe from and what to check would be greatly appreciated.
