Our 2001 Volvo Penta will only start if we hot wire it. We have replaced the ignition ($190). We have ordered a new relay. Any other suggestions? Thanks for any help. Cindy

Most common is bad grounding and the power relay (not the one on the starter) Some of the engines are equipped with a seperate grounding relay for start(nex to a 2 pole system) and if so check that one as well. Get a volt meter and check for 12V in the red/yellow cable all the way from ignition switch - assist relay- starter.

My volvo 2001 After 12 years in a use Elite 30
1987 I have no idea hours etc
Started, but when I put it in gear and throttled
up it would not pick up rpm.
I tryed to bleed at the fuel filter (2nd)
and the engine died ,tryed pumping the fuel pump
and no fuel bleed out
I think it may be the fuel pump?
Any thoughts?
I belive to be blessed this is the first time I have have had any problems
Can the fuel pump be re-built

Don Hood
