I've got a 2004 30' SeaSport with twin KAD44's. Both engines have about 220 hrs.
Out yesterday cruising at 3100 rpm when we heard a whooshing sound and lost power on the stbd engine. Immediately pulled both engines back to neutral/idle. Couldn't see anything wrong with the engines or outdrives. Stbd engine idled fine, but when I tried to apply throttle, I got a screeching/whining sound at around 2300 rpm, and the rpm wouldn't go any higher. Ended up limping home at 1500 rpm.
I'm guessing it's something related to the turbo on the stbd engine. Is there something that could "blow out" causing the whooshing sound we heard, and presumably a loss of turbo boost?
Thanks for any input. I'm just hoping I don't have to replace the turbo. |

Problem solved! The pipe from the turbo to the intercooler had come loose. |
