WHEN I STARTED THE ENGINE TODAY IT MADE A NOISE LIKE BANGING METAL,I THOUGHT I HAD BROKEN A CON ROD. I SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN STRAIGHT AWAY.I REMOVED THE TAPET COVERS AND FOUND THE REAR CYLINDER PUSH RODS WERE BOTH BENT.THE MOTOR HAD BEEN WORKING FINE AFTER FIXING AN OVERHEATING PROBLEM. DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THIS.THANKS, ANDY |

Sticking valve stems in guides. Usually exhaust. |

Check your fuel. I had the same problem with my md17c. Bad fuel(old) glued the valve into the head. I replaced the broken parts and fuel and have no problems since. Except the gearbox |
