Hi there
Im new to this so forgive my dull question but what is the solenoid exhaust flap system for on an AD41A engine,i have 2, 1 works the other dont and I dont know what they are there for.

John,
I was told by the mechanic and Ex Volvo Penta dealer, that sold me my two 41s, that the exhaust flap system are just a big pain. Both my engines have had the soleniod disconected / removed. He said it's more for engine warm up, but usually gets stuck closed and causes problems. You might check futher, but I'd make sure they are open and disable both soleniods.

The exhaust break system was designed to decrease exhaust smoke below 1300 rpm. It restricts exhaust with flapper to do so. If you do not care, disable. Solenoids are expensive to replace. Under black box may be a fuse for solenoid. There are other components in system that could have failed to prevent operation.
