On the MD-6 I removed the water pump by pulling the entire pump, pump shaft and large round cover plate (with 5-bolts, fig 6, page 11 of the Workshop Manual) as a unit. Ques - Is there anyway that could result in changing the Bosch fuel injection pump timing? Detail - I did turn the engine over multiple times with the water pump and housing removed but I did not remove the nut that drives the water pump, nor the fuel injection pump. Situation is a previously good running but overheating engine that now has rebuilt head, rebuilt fuel injectors, successfully removed salt blockages from all cooling circulation paths, rebuilt water pump with new shaft and seals, new t'stat, but now engine won't even pop but a little white fuel vapor out the exhaust. Diesel fuel circulation seems good at all connections that I can loosen, but the "automatic purge" Bosch pump doesn't really have purge points. I have to do another level of destruction to the adjacent cabinets to get access to the fuel injection pump timing cover and there are no reference markings on the block and flywheel (page 28). Any thoughts will be appreciated. If needed, I am willing to compensate for time spent to assist too, cell 360-420-1463 Kurt K. |
