KAD44 Need Help

Is the alternator main terminal supposed to be wired with a jumper to the starters amin terminal. The alternators main terminal is also wired directly to a cranking battery. that sounds wrong to me. what do you think

The alternator output has to go to positive somewhere. Normally the ouput goes to starter positive post which then leads back to battery + and thru to ground. Normal charge wiring.
