I am an inexperienced weekend mechanic. After successfully removing a blown AQ131A, following the directions in the "Seloc" manual and replacing it with a used one(found by luck on Craigslist)it is now time to rejoin the upper housing with the intermediate housing. I have the 2 required rubber replacement ring seals but I question the Seloc recomendation to place "PERMATEX or other sealing material on the mating surfaces of the upper and intermediate housing" Permatex makes many sealants. Which one should be used and might this sealant risk fouling the internal parts of the outdrive or is the sealant really needed to prevent water from getting in?? I would greatly appreciate help from someone who is experienced with these outdrives Thanks. |
