Fuel consumption ??454 marine power

Author Message   Ewn Visitor Posted on Monday, March 12, 2007 - 11:27 pm:    I have a 94 Luhrs with marine power 454's have no idea as to what best rpms are or what previous owner was getting for fuel consumption any ideas would be great thanks   Fastjeff Senior Member Username: fastjeff Post Number: 3236 Registered: 09-2003 Posted on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 - 10:11 am:    Ewn: I suggest you buy a fuel measuring set up like a Flo Scan and measure actually consumption (whiich varies with throttle setting, wave action, load, etc.) I did, and the thing has paid for itself many times over. All you need is one flowmeter--as I have--since you can monitor the other motor's fuel usage at fill up. I was able to dramatically improve the gas mileage on mine, and also spotted a problem when a rope wrapped around the prop--the GPH went way up! Great tool. Jeff
