What model year did Marine power start using EFI on 5.7L engines. Why do some people call these vortec engines/ |

I can't say when Marine Power started with the EFI but the Vortec stuff came out in the mid 90's. It's the basic small block modernized. I think the wikipedia article covers the history pretty well. big improvements were head redesign and use of the roller cams. BTW, some marinizers offer the vortec blocks with carbs, today. |

Thanks for the info. These engines are some of the better running marine engines I've seen. I was just trying to yet a handle on the jargon, and I hadn't kept up with the differences. |
