THIS IS MY FIRST BOAT, AND I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THE SCORPION EXCEPT ONE THING...POWER!!! I GOT PASSED BY A SEADOO LAST WEEK! I UNDERSTAND THAT THE SEADOO IS A MUCH LIGHTER BOAT THAN MINE, BUT STILL! I'D LIKE TO RUN W/ THE BIG DOGS IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. MY FRIEND WHO BOATS W/ ME HAS A 454 AND HE HAS NO PROBLEM GETTING HIS BOAT TO PLANE IN 3 SECONDS W/ A TOP SPEED OF ABOUT 65MPH. WHERE AS I TOP OUT AT 46-48MPH AND IT TAKES EVERY BIT OF 15-20 SEC. TO PLANE OUT. I HAVE AN ALPHA DRIVE WITH A 19 PITCH PROP AND THE ENGINE IS STOCK. MY QUESTION IS THIS. WHAT CAN I DO TO GET THE SPEED THAT I'M LOOKING FOR? WILL MY OUTDRIVE SUPPORT MORE HORSEPOWER? WILL I NEED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE ALLTOGETHER? OR SHOULD I JUST BE CONTENT IN KNOWING I HAVE A GREAT BOAT THAT WILL JUST NEVER SEE THE OTHER SIDE OF 60MPH? ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED |

First of all, let go of that cap key. (THIS IS CALLED SHOUTING--very rude.) That Alpha one will blow up fast if you put much more than a mild small block through it, so I'd say you'd better look for another boat, or enjoy what you've got.
