I have twin 283's in my 1961 Chriscraft Sea Skiff. One engine has a canister type oil filter and the other was converted to spin-on filters. Both are still a royal pain to get at and it is hard not to spill oil while changing them. Is there a way mount the filter someplace else so they are easier to chnage?

Bill
JC Whitney has a remote oil filter kit that will allow you to place the filters just about anywhere. Hoses and an adapter are included. Sure beats crawling about in the bilge.

Thanks Vic. I looked at JC Whitney and wonder if you have any idea which kit would fit my 283's? What a great concept. I'd love to make them easier to change.

Hey! It's a Chevy! You can buy ANYTHING for them.

Bill
Jeff is right. It's a small block Chevy and they made those blocks since 1955, if I remember correctly. There are tons of parts available. When you order they will want to know the year and CID of your Chevy engine. After that, it's a piece of cake to install.
