I’d do it Mark……but I have a track record of acting in haste and creating burdensome situations.

Where this is a new boat to you, consider that there are going to be a lot of other things for you to keep an eye on and figure out……in addition to trying to operate a big boat w/one motor. If you encounter any circumstance other than “smooth sailing”, you’ve got the single-motor and unfamiliarity strikes against you.

If you know the lake very well and can get a capable boat to accompany you…..it’s a more controlled risk. If you don’t have a lot of experience on the lake, and plan to fly solo…..it’s pretty sketchy.

Also, I wouldn’t put a great deal of stock in the fact that you’ve had the “good” motor fired and running at a dock. That motor’s going to be under so serious load once you’re underway…….very different operating conditions.

Mark
Just a few things to consider..
If the good motor fails and you are drifting, How good are at deploying your anchor to stay off the rocky shore ?
Did you check the anchor rope ?
Will you have cell reception in the lake to call for help ?
Have the help on stand by
Have someone with you,
Go prepared, Water, Fire extinguisher , ect ect
Checked your lights ?
Ect ect ect
Good luck !! welcome to boating....
