I rebuilt my standard rotation 318 and installed it in March 07 and have not cranked it over yet. I travel 200 days a year and had bigger fish to fry until things slowed down recently. It’s fully assembled and has been primed just needs some wiring hooked up and will be ready to go. I used plenty of assembly lube and oiled everything extensively but I have concerns because it has been sitting so long... any input or suggestions?-Matt

The engine should be fine if it was lubed as you said. Get a priming tool and turn it with a drill motor to bring up the oil pressure before actually cranking the engine. This procedure should be done on any new engine before starting. Captain Don

If it has a new camshaft, be sure to run the engine at 2,000 rpms minimum for 10 mintues plus at start up. If not, you could wipe the cam lobes.
