I am having an issue with one of my Chrysler 360's holding oil pressure. When it starts up cold the oil pressure reaches about 65psi. After it runs about 1/2 hour under a load the pressure goes down to about 15ps to 20 psi. The other engine stays about 40psi. Any ideas what is happening? I put a mechanical gauge on last night just at the dock & it seems to be doing the same thing, so i know the gauage is not bad. Thanks - totally fustrated |

One of mine does the same thing, and I could care less. Why? 'Cause all you need it 10 psig per 1,000 rpms--and that's very conservative. Jeff |

I have the same problem. Port motor starts at 60psi and drops a bit after running. Starboard engine starts and stays at 40psi all the time. Why does this happen? |

Sticking pressure relief valve in the oil pump. A tiny bit of dirt is all it takes in the balancing act of pressure vs spring load. Jeff |
