I am rebuilding my 440 so Far the only
question I have left is about the crankshaft
see the pick for a LH crank
The Machine shop told me to remove them
I have not pulled the rear main seal yet
but does the Pic look like the right Serrations

Forget the Serrations. Most cranks have them
Use A rope seal. I have taken a couple stardard rotation cranks made them reveres.
Your crank is for a reverse rotation. It would guide the oil back to the engine.

This is not my Crankshaft its a Pic of a LH
Crank.... Facing the Flange Serations will
Pull Oil in Rotating LH and Push oil Out going
RH .. I will remove them as recommended by the
machine shop ..A rope seal is the best seal to use
from what I have been told ? is this correct ?
ANY OTHER ISSUES WITH CRANKSHAFT ROTATION LIKE
OILING HOLES ECT ???

I doubt it. Wish I could be of more help here. but I've never messed with 440s.

You might ask the folks at slantsix.com. (Don't be mislead by the "slant six"; they cover all types of Mopars.)

Is LH std or reverse rotation?
The crank in the pic looks like std rotation, not reverse.
Here's a pic of std rotation crank knurling.

http://pic50.picturetrail.com/VOL487/1398298/2663400/376684325.jpg
The rope seal is best if you have a crank with the correct knurling.
If the knurling area is ground away and polished, the neoprene seals work best. Since the former knurled area now has a smaller OD, the seal retainer parting line surface may need to be ground down a few thou.
BTW, aftermarket cranks do not have knurling, they can be run LH or RH with neoprene seals and without the worry of the seal area being undersize.

George, LH rotation (viewed from the flywheel side) is Standard Rotation...... same as if it were in a car/truck!
See this: http://www.ebasicpower.com/faq/rotate.htm

This crank would appear to be correct for Std rotation.

Remember that some engine rear main lip seals are directional as well.
