Ok, first- thanks for all the help thus far...it has been great. 440 - 330 7.3 liter engine has been rebuilt and is back in boat....motor is running great. Does anyone have the 440 - 330 hp manual...I received the 440 - 300 help. THE NEW TROUBLE - the V-Drive transmission is sounding like there is loose metal in it and knocking in gear. Here are the numbers on the Borg Warner Tag - no} 10-04-000-011 Serial number 4588 Ratio 1.5 and the v-drive portions tag says E-1.2 Can anyone help with identifying the model and location of a manual...troubleshooting ideas? If it's rattling ONLY at idle, the motor is running too rough. Try readjusting the idle screws, and if that doesn't do it, start pulling plugs to see if one of them is not 'helping out'.

Jeff...it is the transmission that is clanking like metal and when it is in gear only....the motor is running smooth as glass and sounds great...ideas? And the transmission was running fine last fall before pulling motor and trans...thanks again |

It could be the spring damper assembly inside the flywheel.
