I was exploring for a power source and discovered the coil only offered 6v. I ran a temporary wire from the battery and one carb worked perfectly and the other didn't do anything. I also experienced those plastic hockey pucks the wiring connects to got really hot. No way to connect them wrong and they both got equally too hot to keep my finger on them. They certainly ran fine on the 440's and the surveyor begrudgingly admitted that these old (1975) motors ran so strong. Roared up to 4400rpm WOT(don't want to know how much that "roaring" cost). Engine temps were fine but there was steam from the exhaust and he said one of the manifolds was reaching 230 degs. Boatfix and a couple of BOAT dollars(thousands) should help that. Eddie |

You do NOT want to tap into the coil for choke power! Find some other source, one that is a full 12 volts or the choke will open too slowly. Jeff |

Trace the + coil wire back to the ceramic ballast resistor. The upstream side should be 12 volts energized only when the ignition is on. |
