I am installing a "new" remanufactured 360. It is reverse rotation (clockwise rotation from flywheel end). I am putting the old oil windage tray on (bolts to the bottom of main bearings) and did not notice proper orientation when I took it off the old engine. It does say "C/W front" at one end. (C/C/W front at other end). Am I correct in assuming C/W front is correct for this engine? That would put the "notches" in the tray to the right when viewed from flywheel end. Does anyone know why the notches are one one side and not the other? Thanks. R.J. |

It's CCW from the front. Jeff |

Jeff, Are you telling me that I have a CCW rotating engine when viewed from the front(this I already know)? Or that the "C/C/W Front" stamped in the windage tray should be placed toward the front and the other end with "C/W Front" stamped on it should be toward the flywheel? Thanks. R.J. |

Aaargh! These things are hard to resolve at long distance... Usually, the front of a motor (and its parts) are the primary direction, so I'd put the "CCW" in front. That said, here's something else you can look at: The opeinings in the tray are designed like claws to pull the oil away from the spinning crank and drop in into the pan below. Envision that happening and you'll figure it out. Jeff |

Jeff, Thanks for your help and patience. If I put the CCW Front to the front, then the openings are to the right side (when viewed from the front or timing chain end), which seems to make sense (not that I claim to understand all the physics of a windage tray). R.J. |
