I bought a Fel-Pro 96000 valley pan and it says on the box "does not contain heat crossover gasket #2-90298 for 4 barrel or high performance", I cant find any info on this missing gasket? Any info here?

Thanks,

Dan

Dan,
My guess is they are nothing more than block off plates or gaskets. In racing applications it is common to block off the heat crossover passages that run from the cylinder heads into the intake manifold. The result is a cooler carb and better ET at the race track. It also results with poor fuel economy and poor driveability for daily driving as it takes the engine much longer to get to normal operating temperature.

The crossover on a 440 intake pictured see red arrow .....

Be sure NOT to block that off. The carb's choke needs heat to open it (usually--your's might be electric). Either way, economy improves when the gasket is not blocked off.

The parts man told me I needed to use the paper gaskets along with the valley pan but the intake bolts wouldn't line up so I put it together using only the valley pan as in my original Chrysler parts manual and it fit perfect. Did my sea trial yesterday and it runs perfect and has no leaks. The manifolds, risers and elbows run so cool that I am going have to pull the other engine parts off and clean them. Thanks for alll the help.
