I have both of my exhaust manifolds removed and staring at my likely original fuel pump. I don't have any symptoms that it's failing but it's 22 years old.
I was thinking about replacing them on both engines instead of waiting until they fail. Same with the thermostat and coils while I have everything apart.
Do you think I should or leave well enough alone. Access is pretty easy with the manifolds off.
Thanks for the other replies about the exhaust hose. I think I'll just replace them as well.

Bob,
When you brought up looking for a rebuild kit a few weeks ago, I was in the same situation when we took the engine out. Thos pumps are 17 years old as I know it and I really don't but I do have 2 new ones on the boat. I did not change the pumps even though it would have been 20 times easier to do so. Like you , no symptoms...My 2 cents.
Sometimes when looking into that tight space, you easily visualize the difference it makes and it seem hard, not to do it |

Al is right on. But don't toss the old ones out--keep at least one as a spare.
