Hello.I bought new exhaust thru hulls (corsa),nice stainless. Anyway, they seem like they restrict the water exiting. My engine arrangement has no risers, only elbows. So, I thought, any more protection from backing into a sea etc. would be good. I guess I'm just wondering if anyone uses them, and/or if they are a help or a hinderance. If they are going to be a problem, I could maybe drill out the baffles. Thanks for all the help on my project.

Engines are twin Crusader 454 FWC
1987 35' Luhrs Alura 35.

Be careful! Water coming in from a sudden stop could wreck those engines, which are famous for sucking water in through the exhaust ports. I'd do all I could to prevent that, including adding check valve mufflers.

If they're the ones I'm thinking of-stainless with an internal weighted flapper valve-I wouldn't trust them near the waterline. I think they are more for cigarette style boats. I would go with a standard exhaust tip with a rubber flapper. As Jeff pointed out, due to valve overlap those engines are like vacuum cleaners and a fast stop will ruin your whole day. Stu

These are the welded in type, not the moving ones. Thanks
