Has anyone had problems with the oil pressure senders on the engines. It's the one with the three pin plug and may be used on their other engines.

I'm on my third one in a year. They feed 5v to it and tap off a voltage from the variable resistance in it. All three have a differente value. they starrt out with a variable pressure reading and eventually fail. It's all fed from the ECM.

Joe, this is a new sender starting with the ECM-07 electronics, which you have. It is a common sender controlling both the pressure gage and the alarm/shutdown system.

I just got a call regarding an oil alarm sounding even though the gage is reading good pressure. This is my first repair of this failure.

I got a alarm and bad oil pressure reading. The oil pressure reading became intermittant and sometimes read low then basically failed. The oil pressure signal feeds the ecm so that will give you both faults.

I verified that the 5v reference was correct and the ground was there. I also tracked the signal wire back to the ECM and it was good. Took the boat out last weekend and it was fine after replacing the sender.

I found a new way to change the oil. You just take the sender out and have the marina put the boat in the water and idle around to your slip. By the time you get there all the oil is in the bilge. What a mess. Thaks goodness for the oil asorbant pads. I got it up with them and then cleaned the bilge and pumped it when we were off shore. There wasn't any oil left after picking it up with the pads except for a slight oily film on the hull inside which emulsified and didn't even leave a oily streak.
