I purchased a new E35 Sherwood Raw Water pump for my Crusader engine. The problem I have is the piece that the pulley sits on is different the old pump has a plate that is 2.5" in dia the new pump has a plate that is 2 7/8". Is it possible to get the end off and swap it. I tried to use a gear puller but it will not budge. I tried looking for a new pulley but how will I know if it will line up? |

I figured I'd update this in case any one runs into this. I was able to pull the hub off the shaft while I was working on this I ordered a new pulley. The pulley came and although a little diffent in height it was the same diameter over all 5" I took a couple of measurements and it likes like it will line up with no problems at all. I guess the pump hub must have changed over the last 40 years |

Good for you. Sorry, but I didn't have a worthwhile suggestion. Jeff |

quick update. I installed the new pump and pulley combination and at first glance it looks like the pulleys don't line up. What I am wondering is how much is too much. I am going to get the exact measurement tonight but would like to know if I have to mess with it. The other option is to change the hub and put back the orginal pulley but I'm not 100% sure that they lined up either. Any ideas? Brian |

Hope you get it right,Brian.A lot depends on this running right. Can't afford to lose belts or pulley come off at 3000plus rpm....If not at all happy, get a new pump and don't look back...Todd |

I did by a new pump and it had a different hub on the shaft. I have sent the new pump to a local machine shop to press the hub off the new pump and replace it with the old hub. I broke 2 of my pullers trying to get it off I finally gave up and sent it to a professional. It will probably cost more than the pump. Hopefully it will be right when I get it back. |
