Hi all, first let me say thanks to everyone who responded to an earlier post of mine.I pulled both my drives to reseal and rebuild no problems with one but the other replacement water pump housing is 1/4 in too large.OMC part # is 983218.The drive water pump housing has a width of 5 in and the new impeller housing is 5 1/4 in wide.Anyone run into this problem before? The kit part # says it fits 1964 to 85 drives. Thanks for any help.

The impeller bends inside the housing.

some 64-67 drives have a different upper housing and it takes a different w/p housing. I don't know where you would find the parts for it. I used to have a bunch of stuff for the pre-68 drives on eBay, but nothing sold and I ended up tossing it all.

Thanks for all the comments.I thought it was a bad casting as well, took it back, had the parts store order a new one and same result.I think Hystat has it right...I have one of the older drives that require a different pump housing. So now the search begins...
