Is there any way to up date the tilt on 1985 OMC outdrive? So that I can get over shallow sand bars in River.. Thanks, Ken |

never ever run a stringer with the drive anywhere but fully down, and water going to the drive. So no nada, nothing can be done. I sat for hours and hours in a chair behind the drive in my driveway trying to figure out a way, nope. |

I put a small kicker motor on my boat. lift the drive and take in in on the kicker. Works great. |

When you say small kicker, does that mean a small out board ??? |

kicker = outboard. a 9.9 will usually push a runabout pretty well through the shallows, and provide emergency propulsion. I have a 4HP Mariner on my 17.5' and it actually works fine for the shallows. |

And if you get a 4 stroke outboard then you can install a T for the fuel, otherwise with a 2 stroke you will have to bring gas onboard premixed with oil. My thoughts you have already in the emails you sent me. |

Good point on the tee. Having a remote tank on board would be a pain. My little 4HP 2 stroke has it's own tank right on the motor. Not sure how much 4 stroke my kicker mount would handle. maybe a 9.9....would be iffy... |

my 3 hp sears air cooled bought new 35 years ago has a little tank on top also, keyword " little " Some sailboats get pushed bye 3-5 hp motors good enough to get over sandbars, me thinks. I keep 3 gallons in a transom hole, had nothing else in it. and i already had the motor so i strapped it down in my cuddy cabin. Havn't needed it once i put it onboard. Soon as i take it out i'll need it, HAH. Wondering if you can pole your way over sandbars, we did that in Fl years ago when we rented a boat, the pole had a duckbill on it. |

Aren't paddles, or small oars for going where the water is very shallow? Bruce. |

paddles work well but to much work . I have a small tank under the back seat where you can't see it and it is open the the bilge blower. |
