I checked the plug at the bottom of the leg and found a little water in it. The oil didn`t seem milky but the boat has been siting for 3 months. I have ran the engine several times over this time period. Could the water get in from pressure when I had the ears on running the engine as I never put it in gear when I warmed the engine up. Can anyone tell me if the seals are all the same on these legs or do you have to know the exact serial# to get the right seal. |

With water IN the leg a vacume test will reveal more than a pressure test. |

Thanks for the help chiefalen and morten. I will do a pressure test, this should tell me the exact seal that is leaking with visable oil leakage. A vacume test will tell there is a leak but without visable oil it may be harder to pinpoint the faulty seal. |

The most 'common' place for leakage, 'water in oil', unless a fishing line in the prop, is the water pump shaft in upper unit. |
