| Grease fitting on outdrive |

86 omc cobra 3.0, there is a grease fitting on the starboard side of the drive up close to the transom. Is this to grease the gimble bearing? If so what kind of grease and how often should it be greased? Thanks |

Use a salt water resistant wheel bearing grease, normally same as for boat trailers. In my opinion, the only way to do it properly is to remove the drive and check that the grease comes out between inner and outer race, and not what normally happens, between outer race and housing! Once a year or every 100hrs should be enough if properly done and correct grease. |
