I need help adjusting the timing on my 1976 i/o OMC 120 hp, 2.5 lt, the manual states that the timing should be at 4 deg, but does not specify before or after, also when the throttle is full open what should the rpms be at. The motor was running fine, and was idling at 600-800 rpm's, i started to have problems with the carburetor and the motor started to idle at 3000 rpm's, i had the carb rebuilt, but the motor still runs rough. I tried timing it but I can not see the timing mark, I marked it with a dab of reflective paint and still could not see it...Any suggestions.....Thank you George |

If it is ibleing at 3000 RPM, you probably woun't see the timing mark, it is advanced to far. You need to get the idle down to proper specs. You might try spraying carb cleaner around the carb base and intake manifold to check for a vacume leak. |
