I had the shaft that comes out of the tilt motor break. How in the world do you get the tilt motor off to replace either the shaft or the whole motor?!?!?

title of this thread says trim motor, then your posting says tilt.

Which one are you working on?

depends on the year.
earlier units, the two long screws that go right through the motor housing also fasten it to the intermediate.
Later have a flange with 2 bolts.
On some hulls it helps to remove the transom boot.
