Hi Hy Stat it's me going to bug you again. I took the water pump out. the impeller looks great BUT the housing is cracked and the spline on the top of the drive shaft is ?? gone ?? all ground down. Yes I know that's bad but what do you think caused that. I hope you or someone can help me. |

what caused that is time and water. If the w/p is not serviced regularly, the grease gets all washed out of the splines, it wears and fails. part of changing w/p is regreasing the splines. 2 or 3 years max. A cracked housing is from storing the drive tilted over the winter - ice cracks it. |

thank you now should there be a water pickup tube from the water pump to the lower unit where the water inlet is ? if so this one is missing. Looks to me like there should be something. I also think someone took this a part before and knows a bit less the I do and thats not much. |
