A little over a year ago I sought help from this forum after overheating my VP 3.0 GLP. The root cause was sucking sand into the cooling system from a sandbar on the Wisconsin River.
Thanks to everyone that offered their thoughts. I found Larson Marine in Waukegan did the repair right. They properly diagnosed all damage and worked closely with the insurance surveyor. The engine needed a head, combination manifold, and riser.
A year later and all seems well. Engine runs like new, no residual issues. Allstate covered the claim as well.
