i bought a 1989 sunrunner ultra 302 it has the aq271 does anyone know for sure the outdrive size? both outdrives won`t steer know it needs one helmet but i am still waiting to get it out of water so i would like to have the parts lined up to minimise down time. |

You very likely have the 290 drives.
One or both of your spindle arms may have rusted causing the fork shaft and bushings to cause stiff steering.
You will most likely need to remove these and clean all parts and replace the bushings.
The Helmet and Collar Steering fork is now sold as a unit $$$$$. If you find a good used helmet by itself, better grab it.
Here is an early 290 helmet/fork..... Are you sitting down?
