At WOT my AQ125 used to turn almost 4500 rpm with a 15 x 17 prop which the book says is too high. Rather than throttle it down I have changed to a 15 x 19 and now can run WOT at 4000 rpm with the same speed. Is running a long time (15 minutes or so)at WOT a bad thing? Engine cools OK and all gauges look fine. |

You are definitely overpropped with the 15x19. The WOT RPM for the AQ125A are 4800 and for the AQ125B they are 5100. You should be able to reach those RPM at WOT, but you should NOT run the engine continuously at those RPM: the engine may cool down OK, but it won't be long before you have to rebuild or replace it. Your cruising speed should be around 4000-4400 RPM. |
