Normally, I'd say yes and yes to your two questions if this is a brand new boat! Are you speaking of an engine in a new boat? Or a "complete" ready-to-run crate engine? And I'd certainly say yes if the engine had oil in it when received. Here is your engine, BTW; http://www.volvo.com/NR/rdonlyres/5FFD59C9-4028-4833-A047-A96ABC87970C/0/566x228 _43GXi_SX_MY08.jpg |

Dave, Any oil in the crankcase? This is a great forum, but I'd call and speak to a Volvo Penta rep and ask if these have been run. I'm sure that they have been since this is a complete package. Since you will have a warrantee, the more questions that you ask and the more that you receive answers to, the better prepaired you'll be. You can also discuss the break-in procedure if you are unclear on any of that! I'd document all conversation(s)! Maybe see if some info is available via their V/P web site. You will not have camshaft follower break-in as you would with an older flat tappet engine, but we still have cylinder wall/ring seating that must be done correctly! If you were to miss this oportunity, she's all over with. We do not get a second chance at this! Good luck! I'm sure you'll do just fine! . |
