Ran my AQ131D for about an hour pulling a tube at moderate speed, stopping now and then without turning off the engine. After about an hour we turned the engine off and tried to restart 5 min. later. Was very difficult to start. After I got it going we headed out and the engine cut out again. Took several tries to start again. Finally got it restarted and engine idled fine, I moved the throttle into neutral and revved the engine several times and it ran fine. When I engaged the throttle into forward engine sputtered and spit and cut out. Took several more tries to get it started again, came back into dock at very slow speed as it is cutting out when I try to increase speed. I have already put in all new ignigtion parts, set timing and dwell, did a carb rebuild last year. Help!!

1) Get rid of the points and install a Pertronix #2842 electronic ignition kit. You may want to search the forum about this.

2) If you give your engine a good run under load and then stop, the temperature inside the carb will rise, the gas will boil and eventually may overflow into the intake manifold, flooding the engine. When this happens, move the throttle lever 3/4 to full and crank the engine. Once it starts, return the throttle lever quickly to idle .

I put the throttle to full, this took a couple of tries, and that was how I got it started again. However, it would not accelerate without cutting out again, after which I had to wait about 5 minutes and repeat the procedure to get it going. I had to return to my dock at very low speed because as soon as I would try to advance the throttle it would sputter and threaten to cut out again. Once there, it was idling well and when put into neutral the engine would rev no problem. If there were no other problems should it have kept cutting out when trying to accelerate once I got it going after flooding? (I will be looking into electronic ignition)

Check that the accelerator pump is working all the way during acceleration. If it gets stuck, yo will have problems trying to increase the engine RPM.
