Boat is a 2001 Glastron GS249 with a 5.7GS Volvo with SX ooutdrive. Got water in my cylinders. Removed plugs and sprayed fogging oil down intake and into cylinders. Put new plugs in and started. It ran then died shortly after. Removed plugs and found same thing. I removed the elbow on right side that connects from exhaust riser to Y pipe looking for flapper valve. Water was up to top of Y pipe. Doesn't look like one was ever installed. Attemped to remove elbow on left side and had to put back together due to water running out of top of Y pipe (wouldn't stop). I keep boat in water at a slip. Only thing different from last year to now is I changed the exhaust bellows. The old one was solid and the new one came with slots in the bottom of it. Could this be the problem? Or is it because of no flappers? I understand Volvo doesn't use them anymore. Would the slots in the new bellows be causing the problem. If so, could I use one of the exhaust belows with the flapper valve in it and would it fit? Or do I have another problem? Any info is appreciated. |
