I just acquired an 18ft 1984 Sea Ray that's been sitting in a storage lot since 1995 and wanted some advice on what to check and what to maintenance or have maintenanced for me before I try to put it on the water.

I was told the boat was in good running condition when it was parked last and the owners just got burnt out on boating so they stopped using the boat.

I imagine I should replace hoses, fuel lines, batteries and oil.

If anyone has any experience with the same boat or motor and can help me make sure it'll be ready to ride that would be awesome.

So far I know that it has a Volvo V4 inboard motor and I'll know more once I tow it back to my place.

Thanks,

-ig

What is a Volvo V4? I guess you mean a V6 or 4 in line. Also, what type of engine and outdrive? Check the engine in the area above the starter, there should be a brass plate indicating model and serial number (e.g. AQ131A).

Probably a 4 in line then. It's just what the guy I got it from told me. Thanks for the tip. I'm going out to get it this Sunday, so I'll check the brass plate and post what I find after I get back.

I got the engine back and it looks like the engine is an OMC so I'll start a new post in the OMC section and call this one closed.
