I knew a curve was coming and sure enough! Air/fuel mixture screws; the screw end on one carb has a needle-like projection and the screw on the second carb has a conical end without the needle. Does not look like anything has broken off. Neither screw has a spring, just a rubber O ring at the head. Question; which is the right screw and where does one buy or otherwise obtain it. Thanks, Tom (and stay tuned!) |

However, on closer examination, I believe that the 'needle' part has broken off. Tom |

See if you can find which carb(s) you have: http://www.volvopentastore.com/AQ151C/dm/cart_id.657400424--category_id.332598-- search_type.category--session_id.314530090--store_id.366--view_id.332598 As far as I remember, the typical Solex idle mixture screw has a very fine taper. |

Eduardo, the 2 carbs at the bottom of the list do show the adjuster screw in question and it appears to have a 'needle' end. This screw has a different part number for each carb but they sure look similar. I think I'll ask the local Volvo dealer to order one of each on spec. Numbers stamped on both carbs are 151A in one place and 70705 with the number 30 in a circle? Tom |

I overhauled 4 of these units last summer. The overhaul kits had them included. |

Here is a url to a picture of the fuel/air adjusting screw. http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=1625oxk&s=3 I would appreciate any help in tracking one down! Thanks, Tom |

I've found that the screw in question is no longer available from VP, however, I found one in a carb I bought from a mechanic. I've also found that the older 44PA1 body I have is compatible with newer, more available bases that have adjusting screws in Sierra repair kits. fwiw, Tom |
